This work began as sketches from drawing walks around Bristol, which were then developed imaginatively in the studio. I was exploring how objects and places hold memories; walking through the weather-beaten, worn cobbled streets of St. Nick’s Market, I found myself thinking about the countless people who have moved through these spaces over time. This drawing is an exploration of that 'imprint', a playful visual exploration on whether the life force of those who came before us remains etched into the fabric of the city.
