This work emerged from a multi-layered process, beginning with the overlapping of forms sketched during drawing walks. I allowed these initial shapes to interact and shift, creating the structural foundation of the piece. I then introduced color intuitively, building depth with buttery oil pastels and smooth, velvety soft pastels.

This abstract, fractured landscape became a springboard for my imagination, harmonizing with the imagery of Emily Dickinson’s poem, 'Delight is as the flight'. The poem’s themes of fleeting beauty and the 'rainbow’s way' worked their way into the marks, transforming the physical landscape into an emotional and literary one
